VP Finance

Second Nature Designs (“Second Nature”) www.sndf.ca is a leading importer and distributor of dried floral and other naturally and sustainably sourced botanical products to the North American marketplace. Second Nature proudly offers the highest quality of products to the home décor and grocery channels.

Today, Second Nature has evolved into a key supplier for major grocery stores, home décor chains, garden centers, and florists, offering a diverse range of unique, high-quality, and customizable products. The company collaborates with farmers and manufacturers in global communities to import dried florals and sustainably sourced botanicals.

They are currently searching for a VP Finance to join their team, who will be responsible for strategic and hands-on financial leadership, reporting to and supporting the CEO and President. The function will serve as a strategic partner to the executive team and external stakeholders, including the Private Equity investors, playing a pivotal role in steering Second Nature's growth initiatives. As the business has exciting and aggressive growth aspirations, the VP Finance is expected to bring expertise in establishing a solid finance and accounting infrastructure to scale the business, building a robust Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) process, and implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system amongst other initiatives.

With a mindset of continuous improvement and operational excellence, the VP Finance will take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for development including by automation, creation of new processes and procedures, managing enterprise risks and change management activities. This is a role that will drive transformation within a growth-oriented environment.

In order to be considered, you will possess the following:
  • University Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related.
  • CA or CPA designation required.
  • 10+ years progressive career track record with 3-5 years in a financial leadership role, leading a team and contributing across a business.
  • Strong technical accounting and finance expertise, with both a strategic and tactical hands-on mindset and capabilities.
  • Solid experience in financial analysis, planning and forecasting, cash management and financial reporting skills.
  • Previous experience working within a small-midsized organization, ideally with private equity investors.
  • Expert level in the use of MS Office, financial management software and ERP systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required, collaborative team player with the ability to build deep and trusting relationships.
  • A “get it done” attitude, roll up your sleeves and lead from the front leadership style.
  • Strong attention to detail, results driven with a problem-solving mindset.
