Our client is a highly successful, rapidly growing and privately held Canadian electrical equipment manufacturer. They produce a key component of the national power grid and given current projections for increased electrical demand due to population growth, electric vehicles, data center consumption and other factors, demand for their product is forecast to accelerate ever faster in coming years.
Having tripled revenues over the last three years, they are projecting 9-figure revenue for 2025. A recent significant acquisition has accelerated vertical integration with a key material. And with a new facility coming online in Q3 and additional current M&A activity nearing fruition, this company will continue growing at pace.
The VP Finance will report to the President and will oversee all day-to-day finance and accounting activities as well as the business intelligence (data, IT, systems) unit. The VP will lead a multi layered team including two Directors (Finance and IT/analytics) and a Controller. A recent NetSuite implementation is ripe for increased impact and RoR, giving the new VP Finance the opportunity to have a major impact on reporting and decision making across the leadership team. As the majority of production is based on a bid process, better economic insights can have a huge impact on win rates and corporate results.
Key responsibilities will include:
Build & oversee a finance team to support growth, with effective and efficient processes, impactful reporting, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Lead annual planning & budgeting process, providing the analysis, KPIs, and insights for effective decision making
Improve workflows, data reliability and process efficiency
Lead Business Intelligence projects through the IT and analytics team
Drive effective use of BI tools (Netsuite, Power BI, Salesforce, etc.)
Ensure all relevant government grants, SR&ED credits, etc. are utilized by the business
Effective cash management, including working capital, credit facilities, and leases
Support decision making on the Executive Team
Qualifications:
CPA required; MBA preferred
Experience and proven results in financial leadership roles, addressing financial management and business planning/analysis
Experience in a significant manufacturing business with a reasonable degree of complexity (job costing would be an asset)
Team leadership experience, including development and progress shown by direct reports
